A note from Sherrie Alverson:
A long, long time ago, I wrote my first article for The Wakulla News. It was about four inches long, announcing the June 2, 1974 opening of Flotilla 13's Communications Center at Shell Point. For the boaters and the Coast Guard Auxiliary it was newsworthy as the nearest Coast Guard Station was about 90 miles away -- Yankee Town to the east and Panama City to the west.
