Most of you know Wakulla Transportation through our coordinator, Nell Rozar. Nell is a super coordinator, coordinating the many trips we have every day to accommodate the citizens of Wakulla County.

One such trip is medical to Tallahassee. These appointments are made at least 72 hours in advance between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on weekdays. Round trip cost for thie trip is $7 for eligible clients and $2 for Medicaid clients. The vehicle for the trip holds one wheelchair client and  eight seated passengers. Nell calls each client the day before to verify they’re still going and to give a pick-up time. Each client is picked up, dropped off at their appointment, picked up after their appointment, and each client is taken back home.

We do transportation for dialysis and clients with disabilities Monday through Friday. Each client is picked up at the their home, taken to dialysis  – or, for clients with learning disabilities, taken to their places of learning. The driver returns in the afternoon to take the clients back home. The cost is the same as on the Tallahassee trip.

We do local medical appointments in Wakulla County. A 48 hour notice is required. Round trip co-pay for eligible clients is $3 and Medicaid is $2. The two-day notice is so Nell is able to coordinate these appointments with the vehicles picking up the seniors coming to the senior center. The local appointments need to be made between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. When the client is done at their appointment, they call Nell and a driver picks them up and takes them home.

If you need to use Wakulla Transportation, call 926-7145 or 926-5921, and ask for Nell or Sheryl.
