Warning issued for potential severe weather Saturday afternoon

On Friday, Feb. 17, Wakulla Emergency Management Director Scott Nelson forwarded a notice from the National Weather Service in Tallahassee warning of the potential for severe weather this weekend:

• A severe weather episode is still predicted for Saturday afternoon into early Sunday morning across the entire region.

• Two potential waves of severe weather are possible, initially with the warm front early Saturday afternoon and again with the squall line Saturday evening into early Sunday morning.  
 
• Isolated tornadoes and damaging winds will be possible with these storms.
 
•  A clearer picture of the event is beginning to emerge as computer models are being more consistent with timing and intensity.  There still remains some uncertainty, thus future changes to the forecast are possible.
