  • Quanta to perform at Posh on Saturday

    Saturday, March 24, at 8 p.m., the band “Quanta” will be performing at Posh Java in downtown Sopchoppy. 

    Bluesy, soulful and jazzy Americana at its best, “Quanta” offers unique and surprising instrumental combinations of piano, sax, vocal, guitar and percussion.

    “Quanta” features Richard Bertram on tenor and alto sax, bass, bongos and rhythm;  Jack Quine on keyboards, guitar and vocals; and Andy Moorer, an award winning sound engineer and composer, will play five-stringed banjo.

    Through “WakullaStory 2012 – A Hankerin’ for Headhuntin’,” Herb Donaldson cleverly channeled voices from the past as accounted by Elizabeth Fisher Smith, editor of the Magnolia Monthly, and adapted for the stage selections from her published work.

  • Wayne Martin, Country Gold to perform at Sopchoppy Opry

    Wayne Martin and Country Gold with special guest Billy Rader are scheduled performers for the Sopchoppy Opry on Saturday, Feb. 25, at Sopchoppy High School auditorium.
    The show begins at 7 p.m.

  • Time for 11th Celebration of the Arts

    Once again, the Wakulla County Schools’ Art, Music and Theatre teachers are busy preparing their students to participate in the annual Celebration of the Arts.
    The past 10 years have been enjoyable nights of singing, musical acts and theatrical performances and this year’s production promises much of the same.
    The celebration begins on March 1 at Wakulla High School with a Silent Art Auction that starts at 5:30 p.m. As last year, each school has produced a painted canvas for the public to bid on.

  • 'Next Victim, Please' - Riversprings Middle School presents a comedy-mystery

    Due to 6th grade FCAT Computer Training, the date for the Riversprings Middle School Play, "Next Victim, Please" has been changed to March 14 for the student body (morning) and March 15 evening performance for friends and families (7 p.m.)  The play was originally scheduled for March 2nd.

  • Dana and Susan Robinson will perform Feb. 17

    Traveling from Asheville, N.C., singer-songwriters Dana and Susan Robinson will perform at Posh Java on Friday, Feb. 17, at 8 p.m. This duo has an impressive resume of performances.
    The Ashevile Citizens-Times described them as “Rural America explored with elegant simplicity. Their music and cleanly poetic songwriting bring to mind the great folksingers of our times.”

    Bob Milne is coming back for a night of ragtime piano music on Jan. 20
    NAMI Wakulla’s second annual “Night of All-American Fun,” will feature Milne, renowned pianist, author, and American music ambassador, performing ragtime at Wakulla Springs Lodge.

  • Rebecca Zapen will perform at Posh

    A third-generation musician in a family tree including players of violin, piano, double bass, guitar, and accordion, it’s not surprising that Rebecca Zapen has developed into a versatile performer: classically-trained violinist, jazz crooner and award-winning multi-instrumentalist songwriter.
    Zapen will perform at Posh Java in Sopchoppy on Jan. 21 at 8 p.m.
    Barely out of the starting gate, her brand-new release, “Nest,” was awarded Florida Album of the Year 2011 by the Florida Times-Union and debuted at No. 12 on the Folk DJ charts.

  • Music hour features Jim White, Hits and Grins

    The fifth episode of From The Heart Music Hour will be filmed live on Jan. 27 and 28.
    It will broadcast on WFSU TV in the Spring.
    From The Heart Music Hour truly provides for an enjoyable night out or a weekend getaway in Monticello and The Opera House is a great setting for our event. The doors open at 6 p.m. each evening.
