    November Teachers of the Month are Crawfordville Elementary School’s Chelsea Strickland and Riversprings Middle School’s Catherine Small, who are recognized with Transportation’s Employee of the Month, veteran school bus driver, Malda Timmons.

    In the spring of 2013, Tallahassee Community College is expanding its offerings to include a Water Quality Technician Certificate and an Environmental Science Technology A.S. Degree.

    The new programs represent the first phase of TCC’s Wakulla Environmental Institute, with the goal of preparing the next generation of environmental professionals.

  • Sanders receives grant from Envision

    Krissy Sanders, Wakulla prekindergarten teacher, was named an Envision Classroom Grant winner.

    Sanders applied through the  Success for Educators website (www.successforeducators.com) where teachers can apply for grants and see other deals Envision offers exclusively to educators.

    As a first year teacher, Sanders plans to use the $250 grant for supplies and materials for her classroom.

  • Shadeville holds fall festival

    On Saturday, Oct. 6, the day was warm, sunny and truly perfect for Shadeville’s 29th Fall Festival.

    From the giant slide, face painting, pumpkin decorating, sand treasures all around to the super soaker the games were full of fanciful fun.

    Many thanks to the school’s faithful PTO members, business partners, CVFD volunteer firefighters, school resource officer, faculty and staff, as well as the terrific classroom volunteers who put in hours and hours ensuring the event would be a huge success.

  • 2 seniors named outstanding participants in National Achievement Program

    Superintendent David Miller, Michael Crouch and Wakulla High School are pleased to announce the inclusion of seniors Chelsi M. Arellano and Michael Schnoor as Outstanding Participants in the National Achievement Scholarship Program.

  • Scholarship fair is Thursday

    Tallahassee Community College’s Office of Financial Aid is hosting its annual Scholarship Fair on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Fine and Performing Arts Center.

    The Scholarship Fair provides current and prospective TCC students with the chance to meet one-on-one with scholarship administrators, who will be available to provide information regarding the college’s many scholarship opportunities.

  • WHS AP exam scores exceed national average

    Academic excellence and rigor are among the top priorities at Wakulla High School as evidenced by the school’s thriving Advanced Placement program.

    Advanced Placement (AP) is a nationally recognized curriculum regulated by The College Board that aligns subject matter and rigor with college-level classes.

    October Teachers of the Month are Medart Elementary School’s Ginger Pooser and Wakulla Middle School’s Kathy Spivey. Wakulla High School’s Employee of the Month is paraprofessional Patricia Broadway.

    Superintendent David Miller and the Wakulla County School Board applaud the dependability and dedication these employees bring to the District, as well as the positive attitude they display on behalf of the students, schools, the profession of education and communities they serve.

  • RMS students express themselves through tie-dye

    Riversprings Middle School held two “School Pride Tie-Dye” days on Friday, Sept. 14 and Friday, Oct. 5. The event was the brain child of RMS Principal Dod Walker.
