Crawfordville Lions Club held its 19th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade on Saturday, March 16th in Crawfordville.
The annual event is a fundraiser for the Lions Club to provide eye glasses, hearing aids, eye surgeries to those who are in need.
“This is a great event,” said Lion Letha Wells. “We are excited for what today brings for the community. We have lots of prizes and the participation is great. One hundred percent of the proceeds from today’s activities go right back to the community.”
St. Patrick’s Day events included a parade and performances by Tiger Rock and the Wakulla Line Dancers.
PAWS of Wakulla provided a photo booth complete with props and costumes to assist pet owners with having fun and celebrating the St. Patrick’s Day occasion.
A contest was held for parade floats with TSC Tractor Supply taking first place, Tiger Rock Marital Arts walking away with second place and Wakulla School Boards Little Red School House taking third place.
“Every float was great,” said Kathy Brown, who helped judge the parade float contest. “The creativity was incredible, and the originality just shined; it is wonderful to see this event grow in numbers every year.”
Judges for the parade also included Robert Manning and Fran Pybus.
Patricia Ann Niland attended the event with her brother Marty. “I come from an Irish family,” she said, “and I enjoy the fun St. Patrick’s Day brings to Crawfordville and the community.”
