Special election cash flows for GOP hopefuls

The Republican primaries in special elections for two House seats are becoming big-money affairs. Port St. Joe Republican Jason Shoaf raised $99,276 from Jan. 1 through Feb. 28, bringing his overall contributions total to $119,476 as he runs in a special election in North Florida’s House District 7, according to the state Division of Elections website. Shoaf had also loaned $50,000 to his campaign as of Feb. 28 and had spent $83,960. Meanwhile, Crawfordville Republican Mike Watkins raised $42,835 for the race during the time period, bringing his overall total to $190,217.
